Most folks are familiar with the condition 'anemic' or anemia. It's a condition most often associated with a lack of iron consumption. But there's yet another condition (on the opposite end of the spectrum) that is called 'iron overload'. It is a condition that is far more prevalent in the United States and most other thriving countries. Yet, unlike anemia, the general population remains unaware of this potentially life-threatening condition. Too much iron can cause harm to, and damage almost every vital organ in the human body. It can lead to premature death. - And that's the bottom line truth. Yet, most people (still) are not aware of that fact. This lack of awareness (most likely) stems from what transpires when people visit their physician for a physical or just to have blood drawn. Generally speaking, when a person has blood drawn, and when the lab reports come back, most physicians tend to focus on low iron counts and overlook the higher iron levels. This tendancy can pose a serious threat for many. Dangerously high iron levels do not come about overnight, unless an individual were to overdose on iron pills. However, over a period of time, if overlooked or ignored, those iron levels can rise and become toxic. It is very important to have iron (more specifically ferritin) levels checked out periodically. Doing so can save your life. .
